The Great Blue Heron is the largest North American heron, with a head-to-tail length of 36 to 55 inches and a wingspan of up to 79 inches. The Blue Herons main source of food is fish and other marine invertebrates, which they catch by spear fishing with their long and rather sharp beak (which is on the end of a long and rather quick neck) in shallow water. |
